CirqueClub /// Saltimbanco Turns 20!

20 years ago, Saltimbanco was played for the first time. To mark this extraordinary milestone, here are just a few of the things that have made Saltimbanco so legendary!

• “For me, Saltimbanco is a message of peace. In the 1990s, immigration was an issue, the mixing of cultures in cities, and Saltimbanco reflects that mix, with all the personalities and colours. It’s the challenge we have in today’s world: respecting each other, living and working together, despite our differences,” Guy Laliberté recounted in 20 Years Under the Sun, published to mark the 20th anniversary of Cirque du Soleil.

• For literally millions of people around the world, Saltimbanco was their first taste of Cirque du Soleil.

• Saltimbanco is a monument in the Cirque du Soleil repertoire and its longest-running touring show. It has been touring (with a few interruptions here and there) for close to 20 years—longer than the record-long Broadway runs for both CATS (18 years) and Les Misérables (16 years).

• Ten artists have performed the hand-to-hand act.
