Despite a few bits here and there, it’s been a quiet month on the Cirque news front. Perhaps the biggest headline, but not necessarily the least expected news, was confirmation from Cirque du Soleil that the Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour would actually be ending its world-wide journey at the end of August, as previously rumored. The “official” statement, which was posted on Dralion’s Facebook page, simply reads: “More than 3 million fans across 27 countries on fourcontinents have experienced MJ IMMORTAL. As we enter the final month of the tour and near our last performance in Guadalajara on August 31, don’t miss your chance to experience this iconic show that has rightfully secured its place as one of the highest grossing music tours ever!” So, in just a few short weeks we’ll be saying goodbye to another Cirque du Soleil show. But that is just the beginning… We’ll also be waving goodbye to Dralion on January 18, 2015, after playing its final show in the (normally) frosty state of Alaska (from where, I’ve heard said, you can see Russia… if you’re visiting the right house.) Of course in the mix is the debut of JOYÀ, Cirque’s dinner show concept at the Riviera Maya resort area in Mexico.
