Corteo Searches for “The Look”

Finding graphic images that best convey what a show is about can be difficult. How can you convey a shows “spirit” with one picture on a 24” x 36” piece of paper? The “Fire Within” series showed the struggle with Varekai and how they came to select the “stick man” on yellow image in use before they went to the deep blue image they now use (personally, I thought the concept of a cloud with a man-shaped hold in the center to be the best choice, but I digress).

It seems Corteo is having the same difficulty. In a message we didn’t receive (darn!), but was sent randomly to just a few Cirque Clubbers, Cirque asked for comments on alternative graphic ideas to represent Corteo. Their message:

“Over the next two weeks we will be conducting an online survey and as a Cirque Club member you’ve been selected to participate. Your answers will play a helpful role in the development of the visual identity (logo design found on our posters, postcards, etc) for our show Corteo. By participating in this survey, you will be registered to win one of 4 Cirque du Soleil 20th Anniversary Edition Books. We will draw the winning names on January 15, and contact the winners by email shortly thereafter. … it should take you no more than 15 minutes to complete. Thank you again for your help!”

From what we heard, several of the images were very interesting. Kudos to Cirque for doing good market research.
