While this is not directly related to Cirque du Soleil, it is because of their production at Downtown Disney that Universal is considering Blue Man Group to their property. Central Florida News 13, a Bright House Networks media outlet, reporeted on this story this morning:
An expansion of Universal Orlando’s City Walk complex will bring a new Broadway-style show to Orlando. The Blue Man Group’s Las Vegas based production company tells News 13 a similar show is coming to Universal Orlando. To accommodate the show, part of the inside of sound stage 18, the now shuttered Nickelodeon production facilities, will be converted into a state of the art theater. The addition of the entertainment act is aimed at keeping higher-end entertainment dollars at Universal. They want to compete with Downtown Disney’s Cirque Du Soleil production. There is no word yet on when the Blue Man Group Universal Production is slated to open. Universal will officially announce more details at a press conference today.
