CirqueClub /// A Clock to Celebrate Every Show

At Cirque du Soleil, the beginning of a new show was always marked with gifts, chosen for their symbolic value. In 2005, individual gifts — often clothing items or objects bearing a good luck message—given by the Head office in Montreal to the artists and crew, were replaced by a collective gift that would travel with the show throughout its life. We needed an item better represented the link between creation and performance. That was when the thought of a custom-made clock inspired by the new show came into being.

The first, given to Corteo in 2005, was designed by Robert Massicotte, who was inspired by the storyboard he had made for the show. This gift represented a welcome to the family and a souvenir of the time spent at the Studio—the time taken to create the show and the time dedicated to sharing it, to “invoking, provoking and evoking.” And a clock was given to every new show since then.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, check out the link to CirqueClub to see a few of the clocks presented over the years!
