It was confirmed earlier today through GulfNews.com that Cirque du Soleil will make an appearance in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as previously rumored.
A quick run-down of the article posted is below:
- Cirque du Soleil will present in Dubai for approximately two (2) months.
- Quidam will be staged from January 4, 2007 to February 28, 2007 for a total of 56 performances.
- Quidam in Dubai is being sponsored/organized by Retailcorp, a division of Dubai World investment firm Istithmar.
- It is rumored that about $9 million will be spent bringing Cirque to Dubai.
And if Quidam is successful in transending cultural differences, Retailcorp has right of first refusal on building a permanent venue for Cirque du Soleil.
