Cirque in the Rafters?

In the year since the Mitchell family of Connecticut merged their high-end retail clothing enterprises with Marshs, the family-owned men’s store in Huntington, they say they’ve infused an already service-oriented operation with their own well-known culture of “hugging.”

Now Marshs is expanding the reach of this proverbial hug to include women, promising what they say they’ve offered their male customers for more than eight decades – the personal attention of a familiar salesperson as well as a custom tailor on hand to create a perfect fit. The luxury retailer plans to throw its customers a grand bash on Friday complete with Cirque du Soleil performers suspended from the store’s new skylights, and hors d’oeuvres and cocktails served at a nonstop fashion show, all to unveil its newly completed renovations and the added women’s department.
