MONTREAL, Aug. 31 /CNW Telbec/ – Van Houtte Inc. (“Van Houtte” or the “company”) (TSX: VH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jean-Luc Deschamps as Chief Financial Officer. This appointment takes effect today.

Deschamps takes over CFO duties from Gérard Geoffrion, to whom he will report. Geoffrion will continue as Van Houtte Executive Vice-President, with added responsibilities regarding company strategic-planning.

Jean-Luc Deschamps has been Van Houtte’s Vice-President of Finance since the spring of 2005. A chartered accountant with a degree in business administration from HEC Montréal, he has over 25 years’ experience in business management, including accounting services, control, performance measurement and risk management. Most of his career has been with major organizations in a variety of sectors, including Catelli, the Sodisco-Howden Group, Gaz Métro and Cirque du Soleil.

“Jean-Luc’s appointment was an obvious choice, given the responsibilities he has assumed since last year at Van Houtte,” said Van Houtte President and CEO Jean-Yves Monette. “His track record in accounting, controlling and financial planning will be a great asset for us as we pursue our growth. And since he’s already known to our business partners and the senior management team, we expect to have seamless continuity in the ongoing sound management of the company’s finances.”

“Gérard Geoffrion has made a significant contribution during his 11 years as CFO. Given his in-depth knowledge of Van Houtte, as well as his vision and solid management experience, we’re glad that he’ll be able to devote himself entirely to his role as Executive Vice-President and carry on with the great job he’s done in growing the company,” Monette added.
