Cirque du Soleil negotiates O2 residency

Cirque du Soleil is in negotiations about a possible residency at O2, the multi-million pound sports and entertainment complex being built on the site of the former Millennium Dome in Greenwich.
Under the deal, the Canadian circus troupe will have a regular show at the 1,800-seater theatre that forms part of the new venue, developer Anschutz Entertainment Group has revealed.
AEG also runs Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, where Elton John currently has a residency and the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where acts such as the Rolling Stones have performed.
Last week the company unveiled illustrations showing how the finished O2 will look and announced a completion date of July 2007.
